Spinster

So I brought my spinning to work.
I’m known as a bit of an odd bird (shocking, I know) but apparently this put me over the top of weirdness.
I was sitting on my lunch break, having taught my accounting person to knit, and he’s run off with that in a big way, and I was spinning. [...]

Down but not out

It rained yesterday.
A LOT.
In fact, the street I work on was flooded up over the gutters and sidewalk. The water was backflowing and shooting up out of the manholes (person holes? road maintenance coverings?) and literally whitecapping in the wind.
And that was my problem.
I drove over the spouting manhole [...]

Playing catch up

One of my lovely new friends and I went off to the Mass Sheep and Wool Festival on Saturday of Memorial Day weekend.
This involved a ludicrously long drive out to the hill country west of us: about the time we were thinking, somehow, we were lost, we crossed into the town we were [...]

Ludo

I woke up this morning, wide awake at ten minutes to four (ugh) with this stuck in my head.
I’ll be honest and say that I haven’t listened to the much more than the single from “you’re awful, I love you”, but it reminds me enough of Voltaire’s music for me to enjoy it.
FWIW, [...]

Unclean

Go, now, over to The AntiCraft and check out the amazing, ridiculous, fabulous, sacriliciousness of the Unclean issue.
It’s bacon.
Fabulous, smoky, absolutely divine bacon.
For you vegans there’s a knitting pattern for a bacon printed scarf…really, there is.
There, now. Don’t you feel better?
And I get bonus points for using both the issue name AND referring to [...]

What was I going to say?

I’ve turned into a morning person.
This is surprising to me, as I was (and still can be) an insomniac, and in my life BK (before kids) I definitely thought of myself as a night creature.
But life has directed me into a morning person role, and my body had more or less [...]

Can you believe this is they guy I married?

Yup, and he’s turning 40 in June.

20 May

and more bizarre dreams

I’m not going to give a gazillion details, but recently I’ve dreamed of:
my Um-friend, who isn’t even remotely available, and I walking down Newbury Street in Boston, holding hands and laughing
being chased by Zombies…
talking to Tom Cruise about kids, and scientology and, just when I thought he was “normal”, having him turn into an alien…
meeting [...]

WTF?

I’m in a very bad place right now. And this post will not be anything fun to read, so stop now.
I’ve been working a lot this week, and while I did have three days off last week, none of them have coincided with Tattooed Dad.
*TD you may want to avoid [...]

Brave Girls

I work with one of the coolest, most interesting people: a semi-retired English teacher who is a phenomenal knitter, politico, mom and all around gem.
Turns out that her kids are also wildly cool.
One of them was at a loss to find good books for her daughter, so she started a blog.
Check it out [...]
